Townhouse together with British Council has announced workshops on the technical aspects of producing art exhibitions and other cultural events. The goal of this program is to provide technical support for different kinds of cultural venues, through both conceptual and hands-on methodologies.
The workshops will cover different areas of technical expertise, from the fundamentals of art handling to lighting and sound design, installing new media, exhibition design, exhibiting work in non-traditional venues, and project management skills such as time management and handling budgets. The program will also provide opportunities for the participants to get hands-on experience in cooperation with exhibition venues around Cairo.
The program will be taught by highly experienced local and international workshop leaders, who will provide one-on-one career mentoring as they discuss their own career paths, present sample job descriptions for art handling and preparatory work, and explain the kind of skills required to obtain such jobs.
