Egyptian Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) in collaboration with the Institute of Research for Development (IRD), France have issued a joint call for proposals aimed at encouraging and strengthening the research partnership between the Egyptian and French scientists.
A total budget of 1.8 million euros has been allocated under this call which will be used through cooperation mechanisms like 1) Research Projects developed by joint Egyptian-French research teams; 2)Chairs of Excellence; 3) Scientific Mobility Grants.
Objectives and Themes
The call for proposals aims to support innovative and application-oriented joint projects in all fields of science and the fields that correspond to the specific research priorities defined by the STDF and the IRD.
The priority areas include:
– Humanities and Social Sciences
– Environment and Water Technologies
– Health and Life Sciences
– Renewable Energy and green technologies
– Agriculture and Food
– Space Sciences and their applications
General Conditions
Eligibility criteria, eligible cost, salaries, duration and other conditions depend upon the above cooperation mechanism for which the funding is required.
Selection Criteria
Funding will be allocated to high quality proposals which will be selected in accordance with the objectives of the Framework Agreement between the IRD and the STDF.
French and Egyptian experts will evaluate applications separately. Only applications that are approved by both sides and endorsed by the Scientific Follow-up Committee will be funded.
Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
– Relevance of the research topic to the research policy objectives and priorities of STDF and IRD;
– Quality and originality of the envisaged research projects;
– Scientific and practical relevance of the expected results / outcomes;
– Skills and previous experience of PIs and their teams;
– Quality of the planned collaboration and recognized added value for partner institutions;
– Prospects of commercializing the envisaged project results;
– Quality of the budget plan and its justification, as well as strategy of project management.
