United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is inviting applications from eligible entities for Local Scholarship Program in Egypt for scholarships at private universities and for scholarships to attend fee based sections at public universities. Major goal of the scholarship program is to support development in Egypt through creating a cadre of change agents, future leaders and problem solvers around development challenges in Egypt with an understanding, experience and appreciation of development and democratic processes and values.
The scholarship program will provide a strong undergraduate education through private and public Egyptian-based institutions of higher education. The program provides opportunities for disadvantaged youth in Egypt who are identified as probable future leaders in the country, to gain skills and knowledge in an array of fields critical to the social and economic development of Egypt.
Fields of study supported under the program are – Physics, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, Education, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Computer Science, Logistics, Nursing, Mass Communication, Bio-technology, Science, and Technology.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Entities such as non-profit organizations, profit making concerns, faith-based and community organizations, educational institutions, etc. are eligible to nominate candidate for scholarship.
- Candidate must have high financial need and must be commited to development and public service.
- Candidate must have scored not less than 85% in Thanaweya Ama (Egyptian High School leaving exam).
- Candidate must demonstrate potential for further leadership development.
