All eligible applicants are invited to apply for Proof of Concept funding competition organized by World Bank’s infoDev Climate Technology Program. The goal of this program is to provide a holistic set of early-stage financing, business support and capacity building services to the Ethiopian private sector, working to develop, launch and grow innovative climate technology ventures that promote Ethiopia’s Climate Resilience and Green Economy.
This program is support by the United Kingdom’s UK aid and The Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and in partnership with the Government of Ethiopia’s Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Facility infoDev is now launching a Climate Innovation Center (CIC) in Ethiopia, planned to open mid 2013.
Funding can be used to finance product development, prototyping, marketing, staff and other launch costs. Eligible sectors include-
- sustainable agribusiness
- bio-fuels and bio-mass
- transportation technologies
- micro-hydropower
- energy efficiency
- other clean tech or clean tech support businesses
Benefits-
- Funding up to ETB 1,000,000 to develop, launch and/or scale a product or service
- Showcasing at the official Ethiopia CIC Launch and related media events
- Preferred entrance into the Climate Innovation Center program and access to a full range of advisory, partnership and support services and follow-on funding
Eligibility & Criteria-
- The competition is targeting entrepreneurs, researchers, startups and existing companies in Ethiopia that are developing an innovative new product or business models within the clean technology space.
- Women owned businesses and companies that promote women-led innovation or job creation are strongly encouraged to apply.
