The Climate Change Adaptation Programme of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was initiated in 2008 for the African continent with support from the Government of Japan. The program aims at supporting African countries introduce long-term planning mechanisms to address the natural uncertainties of climate change. UNDP Ethiopia is currently seeking proposals from international consultancies for implementation of Climate Change Business Intelligence Project in that country.
About the Project
In this project, the consultancy will provide technical support to the Ethiopia Africa Adaptation Programme (AAP) team and more specifically the Government of Ethiopia in:
– the mapping of climate change actors, activities, projects, programmes and trends in Ethiopia;
– the development, transfer and analysis of business intelligence methodologies and tools to support and inform decisions for efficient and effective development climate change related decisions and investments
– the development of an information/ knowledge platform and public output of this information.
Scope of Assignment
The overall purpose of the assignment is to:
– map the climate change actors, activities, projects, programmes and trends currently underway in Ethiopia;
– develop and transfer analytical capacity to understand current socio-economic trends between actors and actions in climate change (which is herein referred to as “business intelligence”) to support and inform decisions for efficient and effective development climate change related decisions and investments; and
– develop an information/ knowledge platform and public output of this information.
Location of Assignment
The assignment should be conducted from a home base with provision to be made for at least two in‑country visits.
Duration of assignment
A total of 35 man days will be required form the consultancy to assist with the above-mentioned deliverables. A total of at least seven days will be expected to be spent in country (excluding travel days) to train the team, structured into two distinct visits during the course of the assignment, with a visit expected at the start of the assignment to train and engage with the team (4 days) and a visit at the end of the assignment (3 days) to support a stakeholder engagement process. It is expected that no more than two members of the firm would travel to Ethiopia for this purpose.
The assignment period is to run from the date of commencement and be completed eight months thereafter.
It is expected that the consultancy will be solicited on a more or less intensive basis during the course of the assignment and the consultancy should display flexibility and be available for support within reasonable time frames.
