Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) is inviting applications from senior and middle level professionals from Colombia, DRC, Georgia, Liberia and South Sudan for training program Women, Peace and Security. The main objective of the training is to contribute to the understanding of the need for increasing women’s influence and participation in the conflict management and post-conflict reconstruction; increase the recognition of the special needs of girls and women in peace processes; and enable organizational and professional change where participants will be able to use the knowledge and tools provided by the program to contribute to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
The program will be conducted in two parts –
- 13-31 October 2014 at Stockholm, Sweden
- 16-27 March 2014 – location yet to announce
Eligibility Criteria –
- Participants must be from one of the following sectors – Government – relevant ministries, judiciary, military, police authority, human rights commissions or similar; civil society and NGOs – human rights or women’s rights organizations; academic institutions; or media and the private sector.
- Applicants must be working in the field of human rights, women’s rights or security sector.
- Applicants must be from one of the eligible countries – Colombia, DRC, Georgia, Liberia and South Sudan.
