The Ghana Denmark Cultural Fund (GDCF) is governed by a framework between the Royal Danish Embassy in Accra, Danish Centre for Culture and Development (DCCD) in Denmark and the Institute for Music and Development in Ghana.The objective of the fund is to strengthen intercultural relations, mutual understanding and promotion of democratic values among the people of Ghana through inter-cultural expressions and interactions.The fund will also foster Ghanaian/Danish collaborations through the contemporary Arts and the preservation of our shared cultural heritage.
The GDCF will emphasize on Ghana/Danish art/cultural exchanges; enhance the work of Ghanaian artist and art professionals with emphasis on contemporary ideas based on Ghana’s rich cultural and traditional practices, resulting in works of excellence, works that are vibrant and ground breaking, and finally works that would support or provide Opportunities for participation in arts experiences through audience development also at the grassroots and in deprived communities where there is normally no access to quality performances and products.The fund is open to Ghanaian individuals, groups or institutions pursuing creative activities that advance the arts, heritage, culture, development and cultural dimensions of development in varieties of areas and ways.
These include Ghanaian artists and art professionals who have practiced their art for at least one year.Ghanaian artists, art professionals, groups and civil society who wish to create partnerships with Danish artists, art professionals, groups and institutions
The Ghana Denmark Cultural Fund will also support exchange projects implemented as a partnership between Danish and Ghanaian organizations taking place in either Denmark or Ghana.The activities can receive a maximum of DKK 100,000 and with duration of maximum one year.The following partners are eligible to apply:
- Ghanaian Civil Society Organizations following the criteria outlined above
- Danish groups, organizations and institutions that are registered in Denmark with a SE number.Applications from such bodies must be submitted to the DCCD.
- Under special circumstances, individual persons may be considered for support.
All exchange projects must be based on partnerships between Danish and a Ghanaian organization.There will, however, only be one joint formal application, with one of the organizations as the overall responsible for management, administration, implementation and reporting including financial reporting to the Ghana Culture Fund.
