LEAD-Ghana in partnership with its partners is seeking nominations for the Ghana’s Top 30 Under 30 Awards 2011 aimed at recognizing the efforts of young people who have demonstrated outstanding exemplary commitment to development of their communities or neighborhoods.
Ghana’s Top 30 Under 30 Awards is an annual recognition program that recognizes promising young Ghanians who are leaders in their community, and provides them with cash prizes and mentorship opportunities to grow their projects.
The organizers are looking for nominations from across the country. To nominate a candidate for this outstanding award,
Objectives
- Identify young Ghanaians who have initiated change efforts that are focused on improving the lives of others;
- Inspire and support these youth in their efforts
- Create a national platform to showcase their impact on local communities
- Demonstrate that youth can effectively serve as change leaders in Ghana
Who can be Nominated
- A young person(man or woman) who has demonstrated significant amounts of innovation, leadership and achievements in their life, community, district, region and/or country
- Under the age of 30 (as of December 31, 2011) and of Ghanaian citizenship
- Self nominated OR nominated by a community group, friend, or peer
- Top 30 Under 30 is an individual award. Applications for a group is not permitted.
Selection Process
Selection of awardees is based upon the nominee’s efforts, accomplishments and impact. The nomination should reflect a meaningful commitment of time and service by the nominee. The nominee’s service should demonstrate positive impact on their community.
Prize
There are 30 awards available. Each winner will receive:
- Up to 1000 Ghana Cedis of cash prize applied to awardee’s training and education;
- Recognition as a Top 30 Under 30 award winner through various media outlets.
- All expense paid trip to the award ceremony.
- One month paid Internship experience with one of the partner organizations with one-on-one career coaching opportunity
Award Ceremony
Ceremonies to celebrate the winners will include a four day of workshops, presentations and exhibitions to bring together winners, partners, government representatives, business leaders and experts from all over the country.
The highlight will be the Awards Ceremony on in March 2012 to honour the most outstanding change makers, who through their highly motivated and creative work contribute significantly to the development their communities and our country.
Thirty winners will be presented and receive their certificate and trophy from dignitaries of government, non-profits and the private sector. Many more exciting events surround the Awards Ceremony and give the winners the opportunity to get to know each other, to network, to find sponsors and to celebrate their creative and innovative work!
