The Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) was set up in 1907 and has an active Ladies Wing which was established in 1966. Initiated as a platform for creating social awareness, it has progressed to become a dynamic association for the empowerment of women.
The IMC-Ladies’ Wing Jankidevi Bajaj Puraskar was instituted in 1993- the birth centenary of Smt. Jankidevi Bajaj (1893-1979), with the objective of building a close alliance with rural India to promote, support and honour the substantial work being done on the ground by entrepreneurs. Since its inception in 1993, 19 women have won this award.
The Puraskar consists of a cash award of 3,00,000/-, a Citation and a Certificate.
Eligibility-
- The nominee must be of Indian nationality.
- The nominee must be a woman.
- She should have made an outstanding contribution to business entrepreneurship by which rural India has benefited and rural society has improved.
- The candidate may not live in rural India/or India
- Self nominated applications will also be accepted.
