The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), the Daugherty Water of Food Institute (DWFI) and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) is currently inviting applications from the Indian scholars, pursuing Ph. D., for the Water Advanced Research & Innovation (WARI) Fellowship Program, to foster long term Indo-American science and technology partnerships.
Duration
- Internship: Minimum 3 months and up to 6 months
- Fellowship: Minimum 3 months and up to 12 months
Program Objectives
The program is envisaged to:
- provide opportunity to best and brightest Indian students and scientists to gain exposure and access to world class research facilities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln;
- promote research and capacity building in the area of water;
- encourage and motivate outstanding students to take up research as a career path; and
- pave way for the next generation scientists and technologists in India to interact with American peers, thus helping to build long term R&D linkages and collaborations.

- Health impacts of water quality
- Laboratory methods to support water-related research

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be-
- For student Internships:
- The Indian students currently pursuing a Ph. D. in Water Science & Engineering from the recognized institution of higher education and learning in India;
- Up to 32 years of age as on 31 December 2015.
- For Fellowships:
- Indian citizens having Ph. D. in Water Science & Engineering;
- Able of doing independent research work and have published in internationally recognized academic journals;
- Working in the fields of water resources, water chemistry and environmental engineering;
- Up to 40 years of age as on 31 December 2015
- Affiliated to a public funded R&D Lab/ S&T Institution (non-private)/ recognized universities/ colleges in India.
