The conference explores and assesses emergent governing principles in different sectors and areas of social policy in order to understand the drivers of policy making and change, policy implementation and response, and policy planning. The aim is to bring several perspectives together in order to analyse and debate the emerging public policy and governance structures and processes.
Public policy is about achieving objectives of the society and a nation’s citizens. It is intentional, decisional, as well as political in its nature, expressing the electoral and program priorities of the government. In recent times the term has evolved to mean a framework of policies and practices that ensure accountability and fairness in the relationship between the government and all the societal stakeholders. On similar lines, governance was thought of as a socio-political concept that applied only to large public institutions.
