The Modern Story is inviting educators and change-makers to become full time residential fellows for six-months starting from June to December. The major purpose of the fellowship program is to introduce and sustain progressive pedagogy and a creative multimedia curriculum in governmental schools and community organizations; and to offer recent college graduates and young teachers the opportunity to participate in direct service work abroad within the fields of education and technology.
The fellows need to teach grade 8 and 9 students at low-income schools in Hyderabad. Alongside, the fellowship also focuses on collaborating with other nonprofit initiatives to teach shorter-term workshops involving groups of educators and students at schools where technology programs are implemented. The fellowship is full-time work for six-month period starting from June.
Eligibility Criteria –
Applicants should be passionate educators and change-makers with a clear understanding of the role of youth media production and its use as a tool of social empowerment.
Preference will be given to –
- Students with the knowledge of multimedia arts including photography, basic videography, video editing.
- Knowledge of social media and general technology (hardware and software troubleshooting).
- A background or strong interest in education.
- Sharp writing skills and a knowledge of narrative techniques and structure.
- Organizational skills and flexibility.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- An interest in and understanding of Indian history, Indian contemporary society and an anti-colonial model of nonprofit work.
- International experience or desire to live abroad in a developing country with a modest lifestyle.
