The International Innovation Corps (IIC) is accepting applications from Indian citizens for the IIC Corps Program 2016. The program aims to build teams of top graduates and tasks them with solving the toughest development challenges faced by the Indian government. It works with the mission to introduce a culture of rapid, scalable innovation into government and to give bright minds an opportunity to contribute to the common good.
The duration of the 2016-2017 fellowship is summer of 2016 through the end of August 2017.
Project Areas
IIC welcome applications from all areas of study and experience, including generalists. Additionally, skills in the following specialized areas are desired but not required:
- Law
- Policy development
- Sanitation
- IT/Programming
- Education
- Healthcare management
- Project management
- Engineering
- Marketing
- Finance
- Strategy
- Urban development/Architecture
- Energy & the environment
Program Guidelines
- After being selected, fellows will learn of the various IIC projects and partner institutions that they may work with during their fellowship. Each fellow, working in a team will be matched to one project based on individual project preferences and the skills necessary for each project.
- Each IIC team will receive 5 weeks of training before beginning project work:
- 3 weeks at the University of Chicago
- 2 weeks at the University of Chicago Delhi Center
- Training will focus on creative design, social entrepreneurship, leadership and management skills, and Indian history and culture. It will also include practical training specific to each project’s area of work. During the 13-month fellowship, each team will receive project support from a network of project specific mentors.
- The 2015-2016 IIC teams are based in New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Panchkula. Teams will travel throughout India as required by their projects.
- 5 teams of fellows will be selected each having up to 7 members- 5 IIC fellows (3 fellows from the University of Chicago and 2 Indian fellows from select universities) and up to 2 employees from the partner host institution.
Benefits
The IIC will provide support in the following areas: visa acquisition, payment for one roundtrip ticket to India, housing during the training session, assistance in obtaining year-long housing, health insurance in India, evacuation insurance for non-Indian fellows, health and safety protocols, and professional development. The IIC also provides a scholarship to cover living costs for the duration of the fellowship.
Eligibility Criteria
- The IIC is open to Indian citizens or PIO/OCI card-holders who are completing their undergraduate or post-secondary degrees, or are recent alumni of an undergraduate or post-secondary degree program.
- Indian university graduates should have graduated within the last 5-7 years from an undergraduate or graduate institution within India. Preference is given to applicants with 2-5 years work experience.
- There is no minimum GPA for IIC applicants.
- Fellows will be selected on the basis of attributes including academic excellence, creativity, integrity, critical thinking, in demand skills, the ability to work on a team, and a commitment to global engagement.

- The IIC application includes your resume, cover letter, transcript, letter of recommendation, innovation proposal, and application information form. Applications can be submitted via online system.
- Apart from the application, applicants must ask recommender to submit letter of recommendation to IIC via email.
- Selected applicants will be invited to interview.
