Deadline: 16 July 2015
The French Embassy in Kenya has issued the second call for proposals for the 2015 Social Fund for Development to provide financial support to local communities and to countries of the Priority Solidarity Zone (PSZ) in their development initiatives.
The Social Fund for Development meets two goals: to contribute to poverty alleviation efforts, as well as to give the beneficiaries a chance to be directly involved in the development process.
The first phase of SFD was implemented in 2001 and funded 21 projects for a total amount of €600,000. Since then, four other phases, with a budget of €500,000 each, funded 84 projects. The sixth phase started in 2014 with a budget of €500,000 for three years.
The following areas are a priority:
- Gender,
- Education with a French component if possible;
- Increase the living conditions in slums.
However, projects from other sectors and responding to specific needs from the local communities are not excluded.
