The Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) established through a Financing Agreement between the Government of Kenya (GoK) and the European Union (EU) invites calls for proposals with the purpose of supporting and mainstreaming the community-led approaches to poverty reduction and sustainable management of natural resources by communities in rural and peri-urban areas across Kenya through another phase of Community Development Programme (CDP).
The fourth phase of CDP has two components, namely: 1) the Community Development Initiatives (CDI); and 2) the Community Environment Facility (CEF).
CDTF has a budget of approximately Ksh.1 billion for the formulation and implementation of Community Development Initiatives in 6 key sectors: 1) Health, 2) Education, 3) Water and Sanitation, 4) Economic Infrastructure, 5) Livestock and Animal Health, and 6) Agriculture.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CDI PROGRAMME
The overall objective of the Community Development Initiatives is to support communities to implement socio-economic development projects aimed at reducing poverty and at improving good governance.
Under the Community Development Initiatives, the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) will assist communities to design suitable projects, provide training and guidance in project management and governance, and engage with governmental, non-state-actors and parastatals in the provision of social and economic infrastructure.
The thematic priority sectors to be funded under this Call for Proposals are: Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Economic Infrastructure, Livestock and Animal Health, and Agriculture.
This is a restricted Call for Proposals (CfP). In the first instance, only the Concept Application Forms must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, applicants whose Concept Application Forms have been successfully selected will be invited to submit a full proposal application.
The last date for submission of Concept Application Forms is 9 June 2011
