Narratives are being accepted by ‘France in Kenya – French Embassy in Nairobi’ for the support program titled ‘Franco-Kenyan Partnerships for Science and Higher Education.’ The call is a program of French cooperation for higher education, science and research in Kenya. Narriatives can be submitted for three different projects – Joint Scientific Project; Missions and Invitations for Inter-Universities Co-operation Projects; and Popularizing Science.
1. Joint Scientific Project – grant amount €25,695. Support can be for seminars, workshops, conferences, publications, or field work. The selected projects must involve both French and Kenyan institutions and must be co-funded by the beneficiary and/or other partners.
Priority Areas –
- Research based on a multi disciplinary and participatory approach aiming at responding to specific issues faced by local communities.
- Projects that include the training of young Kenyan researchers and networking between (East) African scientists, in order to improve the integration and visibility of Kenyan expertise and research at a regional and international level.
2. Missions and Invitations for Inter-Universities Co-operation Projects – grant amount €13,090. Partnership of French Universities with Kenyan counterpart is encouraged.
Priority –
- Missions cofounded by the partner institutions.
- Mission including tangible result – contributing to a PhD defense, a seminar, a workshop, a lesson or a conference, designing a project’s proposal, carrying out field trip, preparing or signing a Memorandum of Understanding are given priority.
3. Popularizing Science – initiative that aim at popularizing science in Kenya.
- The projects can be – associating scholars and researchers from French & Kenyan universities and research institutions, Science café (sharing research results with a large audience), science clubs (sensitizing youth in Kenyan secondary schools to scientific research for development) and exhibitions.
