The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Kenya is currently inviting applications from qualified U.S. and non U.S. organizations and institutions to assist in implementing the program entitled “APHIAplus Health, Communications and Marketing (APHIAplus HCM)”. USAID, through this program, expects to implement activities that will improve the preventive behaviors of Kenyans and improve health service utilization related to HIV/AIDS, Family Planning/Reproductive Health, Maternal and Child Survival, and Malaria. The project will also focus on transitioning social marketing programs towards greater sustainability in the country.
APHIAplus HCM will build on the best practices and successes, as well as address opportunities identified in the evaluation to strengthen social marketing and SBCC in Kenya. These include the implementation of total market strategies to ensure that each product category becomes more sustainable and that subsidies are better targeted to those in need of fully or heavily subsidized products and services. The new project will continue working with the GOK at the national level with national communication strategies that address national priorities and that are implemented at the county level and with full participation of other partners.
