European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) is inviting proposals for supporting a thriving civil society in the field through Country based support schemes(CBSS) under Europe Aid. The aim of this proposal is to establish self-standing instrument for the promotion of democracy and human rights worldwide. Objectives are as follows-
- Enhancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in countries and regions where they are at most risk.
- Strengthening the role of Civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting conflict prevention band in consolidating political participation ad representation.
- supporting actions on human rights and democracy issues in areas covered by EU guidelines, including human rights dialogues, on human rights defenders, on the death penalty, on torture, and on children and armed conflicts, on the rights of the child on violence against women and girls and combating all forms of discrimination against them, on international humanitarian law and on possible future guidelines.
- Supporting and strengthening and international and regional framework for the protection of human rights, justice, the rule of law and the promotion of democracy
- building confidence in and enhancing the reliability and transparency of democratic electoral processes in particular through election observation.
The overall indiactive amount made available under this proposal is EUR 1,200, 000.
Thematic areas-
Civil society to develop greater cohesion in working on human rights, political pluralism and democratic political participation and representation, in contributing to the peaceful conciliation of group interests and peace building, combating discrimination on any ground, in contributing to conflict prevention and in developing equal participation of men and women in social, economic and political life, thus becoming an effective force for positive change, through cooperation among local civil society organizations and stakeholders. There is wide scope for specific activities in the fields of gender equality, rights of persons belonging to minorities, the rights of the child, protection of discriminated groups/people in vulnerable situations including the rights of migrants, of indigenous peoples, of LGBT persons and the rights of persons with disabilities.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be a legal persons
- be non-profit making
- be specific types of organizations
- be established in former repulic of Macedonia or a member state of European Union or in an accession or official candidates countries are recognized by EU
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicants and affiliated entities.
