European Commission has issued a restricted call seeking concept notes for projects that would strengthen and support the civil society in Mongolia for protection of human rights and advocating for democratisation in the country. This call especially aims to support the programs that work for abolition of death penalty and protection of the human rights of the most vulnerable section of the society in Mongolia.
Main Objective of the Program
Supporting civil society in Mongolia in working on human rights (political, civil, economic, social and cultural) and democratisation
Specific Objectives of this Call for Proposals
- Supporting the abolition of death penalty
- Enhancing and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable sectors of the society
- Supporting the prevention of torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment;
- Supporting the promotion and protection of freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and freedom of association
Types of Action
- All actions should be based on an initiative of local partners and should ensure their involvement during all the stages of the action implementation. All actions should have an important component of awareness and visibility.
- Actions must correspond to at least one of the mentioned specific objectives and should always:
- contain significant elements of participatory approaches.
- Given the nature of the objectives, it is expected that the actions’ focus will be on in-country civil society organisations, which may wish to cooperate with regional, European or International organisations and national public sector institutions.
- High attention will be given to the visibility and awareness components.
Types of Activity
An indicative and non-exhaustive list of activities which could be funded by this call is the following:
- supporting campaigns and public debate on the abolition of death penalty in Mongolia
- promoting initiatives against domestic violence
- promoting initiatives against human trafficking and sexual exploitation
- supporting measures against discriminations based on gender, ethnicity, religious and sexual orientation
- assisting internal migrants in the defence of their rights
- protecting the rights of detainees and promoting the improvement of the prisons conditions
Note
This is a restricted Call for Proposals. In the first instance, only Concept Notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, applicants whose Concept Notes have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a Full Application Form.
