The Open Society Institute’s Supplementary Grant Program Asia is providing financial assistance to students from Burma (Myanmar) to study at accredited university degree programs outside of their country).
Grants are awarded on the basis of academic record, applicant’s long-term goals, and financial need. Grants are given to students who not only meet the program criteria but who are willing and likely to return to Burma to work for the democratic and economic development of the country.
For individuals studying or intending to study in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, eligible fields are the humanities and social sciences only. Individuals studying in the rest of the world, including Asia, may study in any field, although preference is still given to graduate studies in the social sciences or humanities.
Deadlines
The deadlines for applications are:
- Students studying in Asia and Australia: March 15, 20110
- Students studying in Europe and North America: May 15, 2011
