All eligible applicants are invited for Open society foundation global supplementary grant program for Europe. For the academic year 2013-2014 grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $2,000 – $10,000. The goal of this program is to to revitalize and reform the teaching of the social sciences and humanities at higher education institutions; to provide professional training fields unavailable or underrepresented at institutions in the countries served; and to assist outstanding students from a range of backgrounds to pursue their studies in alternative academic and cultural environments.
Grants are provided to help cover costs in the following three categories: tuition and university fees; living expenses (such as rent, medical insurance, or other academic material); and/or other costs (travel to/from university, conferences, books, etc.) Only applicants with confirmed financial support from additional sources will be considered for supplementary grants.
Documents required-
- An academic Curriculum Vitae
- Copy of an official, unconditional letter of admission from the academic institution
- New applicants only: candidates who hold a master degree must submit an official copy of the MA Diploma and of the MA transcript; candidates who do not hold a master’s degree must submit an official copy of the BA Diploma and of the BA transcript
- Copy of an official letter outlining the details of scholarship or financial aid award and any other documents confirming additional financial support
- Copy of the identification pages of passport
- Copy of valid student visa or immigration document for the 2013 – 2014 academic year confirming student status in the host country
- Essays
- New applicants must submit two current reference letters
- Re-applicants must submit two current reference letters
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Only students who have been accepted into or are currently enrolled in a full-time doctoral (Ph.D.) program at an accredited university are eligible to apply.
- Europe based applicants must be pursuing full-time doctoral programs in the social sciences or humanities at accredited universities in the countries of the European Economic Area, Turkey or Switzerland (excluding the Central European University in Hungary).
- Candidates who are alumni or current grantees of the Open Society Foundations must be in good standing with all past and current grants
- ONLY applicants who have already been awarded partial or full tuition, room and board stipends, or other types of financial support may apply.
