Newly launched, this small grants program is now accepting applications. The deadline for FY2009 grants is MAY 30, 2010, and the deadline for the FY2010 grants is August 1, 2010.
The American Ambassador to Nigeria’s PEPFAR Small Grants Program provides small grants to community based organizations that improve the lives of orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) affected by HIV/AIDS. Services to children (0-17 years) could include ensuring access to basic education (from early childhood development through secondary level), broader health care services, targeted food and nutrition support, including support for safe infant feeding and weaning practices, legal protection and legal aid, economic strengthening, training of caregivers in HIV prevention, and home-based care, etc. It is designed to help communities help themselves. Under this program, projects must originate in the community, and the community must make significant contributions to the success of the project, such as land, labor, money, materials, ongoing supervision, and other resources. We are looking for requests of any amount however the maximium for any project is USD $10,000.
