The European Union (EU) co-funded project “Enhancing Multi-Stakeholder Cooperation to Fight Human Trafficking in Countries of Origin and Destination” implemented by UNODC/UNGIFT, IOM and NGO EXIT seeks proposals from Nigerian organizations, civil society institutions and non governmental agencies proposing innovative projects and initiatives aimed at achieving proposed outcomes.
Expected outcomes
- Activities should aim at one or more of the following outcomes:
- Increased awareness and active debate among stakeholders in Nigeria
- Increased awareness and active debate among vulnerable groups in Nigeria
- Strengthened network and communication among stakeholder
- Quality and realistic media and film reporting by experts from Nollywood and media on the topic of human trafficking and irregular migration
Eligible bodies
- Civil society – NGO
- Schools, Educational/Academic Institutions
- Media, Art, Nollywood experts
- Religious practitioners, leaders, mentors
Thematic scheme
The proposed initiative should tackle at least two of the five thematic debates stated as follows:
- Reasons why youth and their families become vulnerable to promises of traffickers.
- Role of traditional practices and religion within the trafficking network and anti trafficking sectors in relation to sexual exploitation in Europe.
- Role of family members in relation to human trafficking for sexual exploitation in Europe
- Understanding the diverse roles within a trafficking network including passive supporters
- Relevance of media and art in raising awareness
Project duration
3 – 14 months. Project must start and end within the following months divided in these three phases:
July 2011 to October 2011
November 2011 to February 2012
March 2012 to June 2012
Support and budgeting
- Financial support from 20,000 – 100,000 Naira per project. Financing will be provided for up to 80% of total cost. The following aid would be provided and is excluded from financial support.
- Free awareness raising Film Package
- Free awareness raising Book “On Black sisters street”
- Capacity building: Project management and documentation workshop
- Technical and logistical support by EXIT workers in Nigeria
- Public relations support for selected projects and implementing organization in Europe Reporting
