The United States Education Foundation in Pakistan, a bi-nation commission, invites applications for the Fulbright Advanced Degree Scholarship Program funded by The United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The scholarship funds the Masters and PhD programs in various disciplines (with the exception of clinical medicine) at prestigious US universities.
The candidates applying for Masters Program must have a Bachelor’s or Masters degree from an accredited university with a total of 16 years of formal education. The MBA programs additionally require at least three years of work experience. For PHD programs, the applicants must have completed Masters, M.Phil or comparable degree from an accredited university.
For 2012 Fulbright Scholar Program, candidates from any field, except clinical medicine, can apply. However, priority will be given to the fields related to Energy, Water and Agriculture.
Grant Benefits
The grants covered under this scholarship program include airfare, tuition, required textbooks, a living stipend and health insurance. USEFP will also assist with the visa application process.
Eligibility
The scholarship program is open to all the Pakistani citizens, living and working in Pakistan, having incredible academic record. Besides their academic work, the grantees are expected to share information about Pakistani literature and culture with colleagues and community groups in the U.S. On returning to Pakistan, Fulbright scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to Pakistan’s development and to share their U.S. experiences with students, colleagues and community groups in Pakistan. Successful candidates should be poised to assume leadership positions in their fields and must be committed to returning and serving Pakistan.
Candidates selected for scholarship are required to sign a contract with the USEFP and for successful Ph.D. candidates, a bond with the HEC that binds them to return to Pakistan immediately after their program in the U.S. and serve the country for the number of years equivalent to the length of their scholarship program. This contract is redeemable on a year-for-year basis minimum of two years; as long as a person fulfill the service requirement, he or she will pay nothing.
