In the Philippines, nominations for the 2011 Study of the United States Summer Institutes (SUSI) are being accepted. The institutes will take place over a course of six weeks in June 2011. he institutes will be based at American universities for four weeks, and will be followed by two-week study tours to other parts of the United States.
The Study of the U.S. Summer Institutes are intensive, post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours to provide foreign university faculty the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture, and institutions. The ultimate goal is to strengthen curricula and to improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad. Precise times and confirmation of venues for the institutes will be announced at a later date.
The Embassy of the U.S.A. will cover all participants’ costs, including roundtrip international air fare, domestic travel and ground transportation, program administration, housing and subsistence, and books, mailing and incidental allowances.
