The Nippon Foundation Fellowships invites applications for Research in the fields of Changing identities and their social, historical and cultural contexts, Reflection on the human condition and the search for social justice, Globalization: structures, processes, and alternatives.
The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public Intellectuals (API Fellowships Program) aims to promote mutual learning among Asian public intellectuals and to contribute to the growth of public spaces in which effective responses to regional needs can be generated. It will enable public intellectuals and those aspiring to be one, from all fields of expertise, to pursue intellectual, cultural and professional projects/activities in other participating Asian countries according to one of three pre-determined themes.
Eligibility–
- Applicants must be a national of or hold residence status in one of the five participating countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand) and reside in the country at the time of the application; attend the interview at the designated date and place;
- propose research and/or professional activities to be conducted between July 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014;
- have a basic knowledge of English or a languages spoken in the countryies where the proposed research and/or activities will be conducted;
- and be based in the region/country and will continue to be so in the future.
