Applications are invited for The 2012 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program that offers an opportunity to mid-level professionals from South Africa to pursue one year non-graduate fellowship in the US. The program is aimed at providing the future leaders of South Africa to get an insight and on-hand experience about the U.S. society, culture, and professional fields leading towards better ties between the professionals from the two countries.
The fellows will be placed at participating universities in the United States from August 2012 to June 2013.
Fields of Study
Fellowships are available in the fields of Agricultural and Rural Development, Communications/Journalism, Economic Development, Educational Administration, Planning and Policy, Finance and Banking, Higher Education Administration, HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention, Human Resource Management, Law and Human Rights, Natural Resources, Environmental Policy and Climate Change, Public Health Policy and Management, Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration, Substance Abuse Education, Treatment and Prevention, Teaching of English as a Foreign Language, Technology Policy and Management, Trafficking in Persons Policy and Prevention, Urban and Regional Planning,
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants who are eligible to apply for Humphrey Fellowship must have a first university degree besides having five years of substantial professional experience. They must also demonstrate leadership qualities and a record of public service. Fluency in English is a must.
Grant Provisions
The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship provides:
Round-trip economy international travel for the grantee.
Tuition and university fees.
Limited accident and sickness insurance for the grantee only.
The Humphrey Program does not provide financial support for accompanying dependents.
