The Foundation for Human Rights invites call for proposal to promote and advance transformation in our country and to build a human rights culture using the Constitution as a tool. The Foundation has successfully implemented two programmes funded by the EU between 1996 and 2007, disbursing more than R300 million to civil society organisations and supporting more than 1,400 projects nationally.
The focus of this call is to support civil society organisations in raising awareness of constitutional rights, as well as legislative measures designed to promote and protect the rights of citizens (such as the Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act, the Children’s Act and the National Credit Act), through education programmes, campaigns and events. Proposals should be linked to the key human rights days between 1 August 21012 and 31 December 2012. These include Women’s Day, Heritage Day, African Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism For No Violence Against Women and Children, World International Aids Day and International Human Rights Day.
