Proposals are invited for Human Rights Awareness through events in South African Countries.
The Government of South Africa has consistently armed that a viable independent civil society is integral to building a vibrant democracy and that an active civil society is an essential partner in building a constitutional democracy. The DoJ&CD has committed itself, through the AJPCR Programme, to partnering with civil society in the promotion, protection and realisation of rights in accordance with the Constitution.
The overall aim of the AJPCR Programme is to contribute to the promotion, protection and realisation of rights established in the Constitution through three key objectives-
- Improving access to justice
- Raising awareness of constitutional rights
- Strengthening democracy through partnerships with civil society.
Eligibility-
- Currently serve people in one or more of the target beneciary groups above
- Be a South African nongovernmental organisation (NGO) or a community-based organisation (CBO)
- Be registered as an NPO, a Section 21 company or a not-for-prot trust/
- Have a proven track record of working in the human rights sector on human rights issues
- Have as their core work one, or more, or all, of the Result Areas named above and be engaging in one or more of the activities described above
- Have a Board and/or management committee consisting of persons who are of good standing in the community.
