The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is currently inviting youths or youth led organisations for its Youth Service Grant Competition 2015. The competition will assist in achieving the objective as young people be motivated to become pioneers of changing their communities through service. The Competition will target hundred (100) young people or youth organizations in all nine (9) provinces. The winners of the competition will be expected to impact on one hundred (100) young people’s lives through their initiative or idea in their community.
The competition is aimed at promoting and enabling volunteer and service work so youth NGO’s/NPO’s already involved in community work are allowed to enter but also young people who have ideas or concepts will also be considered.

- Fighting against poverty
- Fighting HIV and AIDS
- Fighting alcohol and drug abuse
Benefits
Through the competition the young people or NPO’s are expected to get the following benefits:
- Win R 10 000 to implement the service program in their communities.
- Get exposure on the work they would have done in their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any young person between the age of 18 and 35 or youth run NGO/NPO that have not been in existence for more than a year focussed on fighting poverty, HIV and AIDS, alcohol and drug abuse in their communities is eligible to apply.
- Youth in peri-urban and rural areas are encouraged to apply as these fall under the NYDA’s priority areas.
- NPO/NGO’s that have been in existence for more than one year are not eligible to apply.
How to Apply
- All entries must be submitted via the online application form. Entries submitted via email will not be accepted.
- Supporting documents required to send are-
- Proposal relevant to any of the three (3) targeted health and wellbeing areas explaining the nature of work or idea.
- Clear action plan with sustainability plan of the project.
- Clear budget breakdown and fundraising plan
- Outreach/ recruitment plan for the 50 young people that the project will impact on.
- Registration documents of the NPO or CBO run by young people that has been in existence for less than a year (if applicable)
- ID copies of the members or young person applying
- Proof of residence
- Proof of banking details (letter from the bank) in the name of the applicant.
