Fellowship Programme associated with capacity Building Fellows in Masters Degree Programmes with PEPFAR Partners and AIDS Service Organizations in South Africa.
The PEPFAR Fellowship Programme (PFP) is an initiative incorporated by PEPFAR and administrated by The Foundation for Professional Development. This programme gives young, skilled individuals with master’s level education the golden opportunity to make a substantial difference in the South African healthcare environment.
Fellowship Programme gives postgraduate students the golden opportunity to gain operational experience and the perception required to operate optimally in the South African healthcare environment. Qualified individuals on the other hand, are furnished with valuable exposure to real life institutions as well as the experience and scarce skills needed to obtain permanent employment.
The main emphasis of the project is to initially monitor and evaluate, but the fellowship has recently expanded to include psychology, nursing, Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) and the medical provision of HIV and AIDS care and treatment.
Fellows are also given the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise while working with mentors on projects ranging from HIV and AIDS comprehensive treatment and TB integration management programmes, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) support services, health systems development, and strategic information management, to scarce skills support such as infectious disease control, psychosocial assessment tool development, and HIV prevention integration.
