University of Oxford is seeking applications from students ordinarily resident in South Africa for the 2012 Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships to pursue graduate studies in a variety of fields at Oxford.
The Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships are available for ordinarily resident South African students wishing to start any new degree bearing course, with the exception of PGCert and PGDip courses, at the University of Oxford. Condition for receiving the scholarship is that the scholar must be intending to return to South Africa following his/her studies.
The scholarships are supported by the Oppenheimer Fund at Oxford University, endowed by Harry Frederick Oppenheimer, a noted South African businessman, philanthropist, and opponent of apartheid. The Fund promotes links between the University of Oxford and South African Universities
Scholarship Provisions
The Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships support up to £6500 of fees or living costs.
Generally, the scholarship is awarded for the full duration of a student’s fee liability for the agreed course. If the scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of this scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.
Application Procedure
Eligible candidates interested in receiving this scholarship must apply to Oxford by selecting Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University’s Graduate Application Form.
Last date for submission of applications for Medical Sciences and Philosophy is January 6, 2012.
Last date for submission of applications for other subjects is January 20, 2012.
