Applications invited for funding opportunity provided in the field of MSc in Public Health initiated by Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme to support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK. The Scheme is administered by the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Other Facilities-
- Student concessionary or other approved airfare to the United Kingdom and return on expiry of the scholarship
- Approved tuition and examination fees
- A personal maintenance allowance of £1,134 (London rate) per month paid by host institution
- A grant towards the expenses of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable
- A grant for expenses for approved travel within the United Kingdom and overseas
- Please note no additional allowances are paid for spouses or other dependents.
Prize–
The Okeke Prize & William Simpson Prize is awarded to the best student on the course. This prize combines a gift from Dr E D Okeke, a former student from Nigeria in 1964, with money raised in 1937 to the memory of Sir William Ritchie Simpson, visiting lecturer in hygiene 1898-1923 and director of tropical hygiene at the Ross Institute from 1924 until his death in 1931.
Eligibility–
- Be nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) a developing Commonwealth country, and not currently be living or studying in a developed country
- Hold a first degree at either first or upper second class level
- Be sufficiently fluent in English to pursue the course
- Have not previously studied for one year or more in a developed country
- Be able to confirm in writing that neither they or their families would otherwise be able to pay for the proposed course of study
- Be willing to confirm that they will return to their home country as soon as their period of study is complete
- Hold an offer of admission for one of the eligible courses at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
