Dutch Foreign Ministry is accepting applications form Developing Countries Students to pursue Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP) at United Nations University-MERIT (UNU-MERIT) in Netherlands 2013.
The Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP) is designed for government officials with experience in the field of migration and asylum. It is also open to other practitioners and students interested in the management of migration and asylum policies.
The MMDP aims to develop not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills such as articulation and presenting; how to write briefs, policy notes and memorandum; how to formulate evidence-based policy; and how to work in a group and deal with conflicting interests.
The course has three overarching objectives-
- To build capacity in migration management in developing countries
- To inform participants about the foreign asylum and migration policy of the European Union, as well as the international priorities of the Netherlands with regard to asylum and migration
- To provide a platform for networking between migration civil servants from developing countries, the Dutch Government, European Commission and international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Applicants should submit the following documents-
- A recent CV explicitly outlining work experience in the field of asylum and migration
- A passport copy and a passport-size picture
- A proof of proficiency in English (IELTS / TOEFL)
- Two reference letters, from current or former employers and/or professors
- Copies of degree(s) and lists of grades
- A motivation letter which explains why the applicant chose this programme and which convinces the Board of Admissions that he or she will complete the programme successfully.
Eligibility–
- This scholarship programme targets government officials, with a minimum of three years’ work experience in the field of migration and/or asylum, working in eligible countries across the developing world
- provide evidence that they have been working for a government department of an eligible country, in the field of asylum and/or migration, for at least three years
- obtain support from their employers, in the form of a letter stating that they will still be employed and paid for the duration of the programme.
Other benefits-
- A maximum of 10 scholarships per year will be awarded at a rate of €7200 per participant. The scholarship includes the following components-
- A monthly sum to pay housing and living costs for a maximum of three months
- An economy class return ticket and visa costs
- A lump sum for excursions
