Grand Challenges Canada (GCC) is inviting research ideas and proposals from Low or Middle Income Country Researchers, Master’s/PhD and Post-Doctoral Students and Canadian Researchers and Institutions for ‘Stars in Global Health – Round 7, Phase I’ Grant Program 2014. The research grant programs are designed to enable innovators in developing countries, as well as in Canada, to develop bold ideas to improve global health conditions.
Bold ideas aligned with innovative social entrepreneurial approaches that could be easily implemented in developing countries to save and improve lives are encouraged to apply for the grant. The ideas may encompass development/ deployment of products and/or services in any spectrum of global health, including drug discovery, vaccine development, diagnostics, health and medical education, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases (including cancer and mental health), health-related water and sanitation, and health-related agriculture and nutrition.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Non-profit organizations and for-profit organizations, as well as other recognized institutions from low-or-middle income countries and Canada are eligible to apply for the grant.
- Canadian applicants must have a collaborator based in the eligible developing country (low-or-middle income country as categorized by the World Bank).
- Proposals must include a two-minute video explaining the target global health problem, the proposed solution and why it is a creative, bold and innovative approach to be eligible for grant selection process.
