Hiren tillekeratne Research Fund offers Award for outstanding Post Graduate Research-2012. This fund was incorporated by University Grants Commission with a donation made by Mr. Eardly tillekeratne. The award comprises of a cash prize of Rs. 200,000 along with certificate. Nominations are invited from outstanding post graduate research works invited between the periods from 1st June 2010 to 31st May, 2012.
These nominations are invited for the following:
- Agriculture
- Engineering
- Medicine
- Natural Science
- Information Technology
- Economics
Nominations for awards are invited by UGC from Universities, Professional organizations, Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) functions as the apex body of the University System in Sri Lanka was incorporated on 22nd December 1978 under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978. The functions of the UGC are planning and coordination of university education, allocation of funds to Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), regulation of the administration of HEIs, maintenance of academic standards and regulation of admission of students to HEIs.
The selection of suitable candidates for the above awards will be made by panel of judges appointed by The UGC. The decision taken by the UGC will be the final and further no correspondence will be entertained once the selections are made. “Hiren tillekeratne Research Fund” should be written clearly on the top left hand corner of the envelope.
