Applications are being accepted for VakaYiko’s small grants scheme which aims to support practitioners in low and middle income countries (LMIC) in building capacity for research use. The VakaYiko Consortium is a three year project to build the capacity for use of research evidence by policy makers. Capacity in this context refers to the behaviors, skills and attitudes that enable the use of research evidence to support decision making.

- Climate change
- Population growth
- Food security
- Cyber security
Note: Applicants can apply for a grant of up to £20,000. This is intended to cover programme design,implementation, reporting and communication costs. The grant will not go towards paying salaries,hardware costs, sitting fees, or excessive travel and hospitality costs.
Eligibility criteria:
- Individuals or organizations based in low and middle income countries (as classified by the World Bank) in Africa, Asia, and Latin America
- Individuals or organizations (practitioners, intermediaries and others). Examples of potential applicants include (but are not limited to): civil society organizations, think tanks, universities, academic societies, civil servants, media and professional associations
- Organizations and individuals should be able to demonstrate a degree of prior relevant experience.
- Applicants whose programme budget is at the higher end of the scale should have a proven track record of successfully carrying out similar work.
Documents Required:
Proposals should be a maximum of five pages (excluding annexes) and should include:
- Clear description of the capacity gap the project is responding to and how your project intends to address these gaps
- A brief communications plan indicating how you will communicate your experiences throughout the project with the wider sector (e.g. through blogs, articles, reports, social media promotion)
- An indicative budget
- A team composition
- CV of the project lead
