The Sudan Country-based Support Scheme under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) of the European Commission has issued this call for proposals to support civil society in third countries working on human rights, political pluralism and democratic political participation and representation.
The specific objective (s) of this Call for Proposals are:
- Strengthen civil society efforts to bring about legislative changes and to improve state policy on fundamental human rights issues.
- Enhancing Political Representation and Participation
- Enhancing the inclusiveness and pluralism of the civil society.
The Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) for Sudan focuses on in-country civil society organisations (CSOs) which may wish to cooperate with regional, European-based or other organisations and national public-sector institutions (including National Human Rights Institutions).
In general, the following organisations are eligible to apply for this call of proposals, provided they meet the eligibility criteria set out below:
- Civil society organisations (including NGOs and CBOs)
- Third level academic institutions
- Independent political foundations (NOT political parties)
- National Human Rights Commissions and Parliamentary bodies
- Private sector non-profit agencies
Initially only concept notes need to be submitted by the applications. Deadline: 8 November 2010.
