Tanzania is a country that has great potential for tourism and natural resources. The country is blessed with a variety of wildlife and boasts of 14 national parks, 33 game reserves, 43 game controlled areas and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Similarly the forests and woodlands cover about 41% of the total area of the country. These resources play an important role in the life of the natives of Tanzania. The main responsibility to protect and manage all the cultural and natural resources in Tanzania lies on the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT). MNRT takes all the decision related to policy formation, monitoring, regulation, and control of all the natural resources of the country.
NFP facility activities
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism through its Division of Forestry and Beekeeping (FBD) in collaboration with and support of the National Forestry Programme Facility (NFP Facility) is implementing the second phase of the Facility funded projects in Tanzania. The purpose of the Facility support under this phase is to “promote the active participation of Civil Society Organizations and the Private Sector in the National Forest Programme (NFP) process in Tanzania”.
During 2011/2012 period the Facility will make available to forestry stakeholders in Tanzania mainland a total of US$ 48,000 (US Dollars Forty Eight Thousand Only) in supporting of the NFP facility activities.
Call for Proposals
FBD in conjunction with the Multistakeholder National Steering Committee (MNSC) is inviting proposals from interested non-profit organization to carry out any of the three activities below.
– Training the community group/organization dynamics in leadership formation and management of forest micro projects
– Support women groups involved in forest and beekeeping activities on technical and entrepreneurship skills
– Sensitize and promote the use of improved stoves to big users of charcoal in towns
