The University of Manchester is inviting applications for the postgraduate distance learning course in the study of Public Health from students working as doctors, nurses, health researchers, health promotion specialists and health service managers in Uganda and Tanzania. The main purpose of the scholarship program is to support 6 students who work in their home country within the health care sector to be able to complete the Masters Course as a part-time student within 3-5 years. Students can also take a career break and study full time. The scholarship will cover tuition fees and required text books.
Eligibility Criteria –
- The applicant must be a resident citizen of Uganda or Tanzania and should not have previously studied abroad, or undertaken a UK distance learning course.
- Candidate must have at least 2 years of work experience in their own country within the health care sector.
- Candidate must have a clear idea about how studying about the MPH would benefit their country.
- Candidate must hold the equivalent of a UK first or 2.1 undergraduate degree classification.
- Candidate must satisfy the MPH English language requirements.
- Candidate must have regular access to a PC and the internet.
- The duly filled application form must be submitted via email with all necessary documents within the mentioned deadline.
Documents to be attached along with the application are – two signed references (one should be the current employer supporting the applicant to take on a part time degree) along with scanned copies of all the certificates, an original essay (maximum 1,000 words) describing how the University of Manchester online MPH will contribute to her/his professional and personal development and how an MPH will help her/him build a capacity in the health sector within her/his own country.
