The Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration at the US State Department is accepting proposals from (1) Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with IRS, other than institutions of higher education and international organizations; and (2) International Organizations for refugee assistance in Thailand.
Limited funding is available to support NGOs providing assistance to Burmese refugees on the Thai-Burma border. Proposals should focus on the following:
(1) Health (including curative, preventative, reproductive health, mental health and psychosocial care), Water and Sanitation, and Gender-Based Violence. PRM will accept proposals from NGOs for activities that focus on the following priorities in Site 1, Site 2, Tham Hin, Mae La, Umpiem and Nu Po camps: a) Improving or maintaining access to quality health care services, focusing on integrated health services provision, including the incorporation of training and capacity building of key responders to the provision of services; b) Improving the quality of life of refugee populations by addressing their psychosocial needs and developing income-generating activities, with an emphasis on the development of skills and vocational training to achieve a measure of self-sufficiency and a reasonable livelihood; c) Improving or maintaining access to adequate quantity and quality water and sanitation services, including health and hygiene promotion activities; and d) Strengthening the community’s capacity to respond to the health, psychosocial, safety and justice needs of survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
(2) Nutritional Assistance: NGO proposals to provide nutritional assistance to Burmese refugees in the nine camps should focus on the following: a) Providing nutritionally complete rations containing at least 2,100 KCals/person/day; b) Providing sufficient cooking fuel to meet the basic household needs of camp residents; and c) Ensuring malnutrition rates remain at or below current levels.
