Applications are being accepted for training workshop on the restoration of Ottoman cultural heritage in South-East Europe. This program will be conducted in Tirana and Berat, Albania, from 21st October to 8th November 2013. The main purpose of this training program is to introduce relevant conservation and restoration techniques, in compliance with internationally recognized conservation principles and standards.
The course will include a one-week theoretical training module at the Tirana Regional Centre for the Restoration of Monuments, and a two-week field module in the city of Berat, UNESCO World Heritage Site, focusing on the complex of the King’s Mosque, one of the oldest in Albania, built in the 15th century under Sultan Bayezid II (or Sultân Bayezid-î Velî).

- Optional: letters of support from the parent institution, and/or the respective national Commission for UNESCO, and/or the respective ministry of culture.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- The course is intended for young restorers and conservators (possibly under 30 years of age) willing to develop their professional capacities in the training topics.
- Basic requirements-
- university education (minimum first-level degree) on conservation/restoration of cultural heritage or related subjects basic practical restoration experience
- at least 21 years of age
- proficiency in the English language (English being the working language of the course)
- Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Greece, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey and Kosovo
