Icon Women and Young People’s Leadership Academy (iCON) is civil society organization based in Uganda. The iCON was founded with the aim to unleash the entrepreneurial leadership potential of the women and young people who do not get enough opportunities in society due to HIV/AIDS and/or gender based violence. The mission of iCON is “to fully ignite the potential for entrepreneurial, visionary and transformational leadership in Uganda’s and Africa’s women and young people.” The organization dreams of making Uganda and Africa completely transformed, progressive and violence free.
The iCON under its Northern Uganda Entrepreneurial and Transformation Leadership Fellowship Programme invites applications from women aged 25 years above for 2011 fellowship. Applicants should be persons working in any field of life in Acholi Sub-region (formal and informal sector) with a demonstrated interest and experience and commitment to mentor others in peace building and social transformation.
The iCON Entrepreneurial and Transformational Leadership Fellowship Program
This is a mentorship program that provides individuals with the opportunity and skills required to develop their leadership potential in order to create change in their communities. Every selected individual (Fellows) is expected to either develop or improve on an already existing business or social idea/ innovation/project.
Phases/Stages of the iCON Fellowship program
The Fellowship program is divided into four phases:
– Interactive Theory
– Field Practice
– Interactive Theory
– Field Practice
Applicant Profile
– Aged 25 years and above.
– Fluent in written and spoken English and Luo.
– Demonstrated leadership in peace building efforts in the Acholi sub-region.
– Considerable genuine volunteer experience with no expectations of monetary pay or compensation.
– Ability to pay registration fee of 20,000 Uganda Shillings being accepted successfully into the Fellowship program.
– Demonstrated interest, experience and commitment to mentor others in any field or area of life (personal, professional etc).

That is a nice Idea but i wish you could also organise such programs for people in the central region.
