The Karamoja Livelihoods Programme (KALIP), whose period of implementation started on 9th March 2009, is a €15 million 10th EDF funded programme. The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) is the National Authorising Office (NAO) and the Contracting Authority. KALIP is implemented by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM). To manage the day to day activities of KALIP, OPM has set up a Programme Management Unit (PMU) with a liaison office within the OPM offices in Kampala and a Programme Office in Moroto.
Proposals are invited for the KALIP from eligible candidates.
Objectives of KALIP
The Overall Objective of KALIP is to; “Promote development as an incentive to peace by supporting livelihoods including agro-pastoral production and alternative income generation opportunities for the people of Karamoja”.
The Purpose of KALIP is to; “Protect and enhance incomes and food security of agro-pastoral communities and support them in building up their productive asset base”.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted in accordance with the instructions on the Concept Note and the Full application form included in the Grant Application Form annexes to these Guidelines. Applicants must apply in English.
Any error or major discrepancy related to the points listed in the instructions on the Concept Note or any major inconsistency in the application form (e.g. the amounts mentioned in the budget are inconsistent with those mentioned in the application form) may lead to the rejection of the application.
Clarifications will only be requested when information provided is unclear, thus preventing the Contracting Authority from conducting an objective assessment.
Hand-written applications will not be accepted.
