The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is organizing the Young Scientists Innovation Competition in September, 2011 and seeks proposals from students about the use of science and technology in addressing challenges at homes, schools and communities. The competition will be held during the 2011 National Science Week (NSW) from 19th – 23rd September 2011. The National Science Week is organized by the UNCST to promote the use of science and technology in Uganda and is attended by a large number of renowned figures from the science and technology field.
Judgment Criteria
– Relevance of the innovation
– Scientific importance of the innovation
– Potential application
– Originality
– Market /commercialization potential
– Relevance to socio-economic development of Uganda
– Reliability/adoptability
Participation
– Only students of senior secondary schools are eligible to participate in this competition.
– An innovation team should consist of a maximum of 2 students.
– Each innovation team should comprise of an O and A’ Level student

– Physical sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
