World Vision in partnership with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) organizes the book donation programs to help the needy access literacy and education. The Recycled Textbooks collects, sorts and packs old edition textbooks into class sets ready for World Vision to distribute where needed.
The books are selected titles that have been approved by the education authorities of the overseas countries as matching their curriculum and culture. This can be a lengthy process but significantly reduces resource waste.
World Vision works with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. It has a presence in over 100 countries providing emergency assistance to children and families affected by natural disasters and civil conflict, work with communities to develop long-term solutions to alleviate poverty, and advocate for justice on behalf of the poor.
With its book donation program it seeks to be a bridge between your compassion and the children that can benefit from the gift of books. Many people have discovered the joy and freedom that comes with being able to read. For children in poverty, education brings a freedom that is very real to them.
Unfortunately, there is no open channel through which one can approach World Vision with a request for donating books although HMH says to contact them directly for such a possibility. It is best to contact World Vision’s local office in your country for seeking book donations.
