Civil Society Challenge Fund (CSCF) will be closed down in 2015, after it has concluded all its present projects. The decision was taken by The Secretary of State, following a ten year evaluation of the fund undertaken by the ministers. It has been finally decided that no more funds will be made available under the Civil Society Challenge Fund.
DFID understands that CSCF has been instrumental in supporting the poor, by helping them express their views regarding decisions that would affect them. Though the fund will no longer be available, and no applications for the same will be accepted, but the mission of the fund will continue through the Global Poverty Action Fund program. The GPAF will now incorporate some of the objectives of the CSCF. Along with its other programs, the GPAF will now also handle projects related to reduction of poverty and pursuit of the MDGs. It will help improve the lives of the poor by providing them with service, power, security and justice.
