The renowned 17th Annual Global Mobile Awards were launched by the GSMA, this week. The Awards are presented to honor excellence, achievement and innovation in the field of mobile communication. The Awards will be presented at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 28th February, 2012.
This year, new categories have also been included. Some of these are applications, services, devices and technology. For the first time, special attention is being paid to innovations in the mobile industry that have a beneficial impact on the field of education and learning.
The competitors in the in new category include mLearning/education equipment, mLearning/education solution content providers, notebook, handheld and specialist learning device manufacturers, academic and training institutions, mobile network operators, NGOs, application and software developers, and chipset and module manufacturers.

We are excited that this year the Global Mobile Awards will honor and showcase ground-breaking mobile-based devices, services and applications that are facilitating and enhancing education tools around the world.”
