The Open Society Public Health Program in partnership with the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health at the University of California, San Francisco, is convening a seminar entitled “International Partnership for Advancing Transgender Health” seminar that will be held during October 2–8, 2011 as part of the Salzburg Medical Seminars International.
With this seminar, a multi-year partnership will be launched with the organizations TIG (lead organization) and Labrys (supporting partner) in Kyrgyzstan, RED TRANS in Peru, and Gender DynamiX in South Africa. Main purpose of these partnerships will be to establish and implement culturally appropriate guidelines on transgender health care.
The ultimate goal of these groups will thus be to cultivate trained networks of medical care providers who can offer high quality transgender health care and who will participate in the dissemination of best practices regionally.
Salzburg Medical Seminars International is part of the Austrian-American Foundation, funded by the Open Society Foundations and the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research, offering post-graduate medical educational trainings for highly qualified health professionals from around the world.
