In a recently released list of top nonprofit partners of United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID), IntraHealth International has been named in the top 20, reports Devex, a social enterprise engaged in providing business intelligence and recruitment services to the development community, leading donor agencies, companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and development professionals. The basis for ranking employed by Devex is the funding obligated from October 2010 through March 2011.
“We are honored to find ourselves on this list, alongside many other great non-profit partner organizations,” said Pape Gaye, IntraHealth president and CEO. “We have a longstanding relationship with USAID. We very much value this relationship and are committed to continuing to pursuing it in support of health workers and underserved communities all over the world.”
All the listed partner organizations are non-profits with 501 (c)(3) or tax-exempt status and undertake the implementation of projects from USAID, which funds field work through grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts. USAID’s partner organizations include research institutes, faith-based charities, and private NGOs are large and efficient enough, and leave many of their for-profit counterparts behind as far as staff size, range of expertise, and awarded funding are concerned.
